Project Overview
Everyday
Malaysia will produce the wastage an average about 30,000 tons. In Clean
Malaysia article the generation of municipal solid waste in Malaysia greater
more than 91 percent in recent years from 2003 to 2013.Therefore, it is the
time to improve the garbage management system in Malaysia. An IoT Garbage
Monitoring is proposed to monitor the amount of trash.
The
idea on developing this project comes by comparing the conventional waste
collection system. In order to tackle the problem, this project gives the
efficient way in managing the waste disposal. It is place in the city
residential area. The system aims to use by municipal waste collection. Hence
it will reduce the operational cost. The revolution project generates and idea
to design the garbage monitoring with ultrasonic sensor, microcontroller and
the Wifi module for transmitting the data. For the operation it is power up
with solar energy.

Review Conventional System
- Household will dispose their waste in container outside
- The truck drier will responsible for the collection of residential household waste
- Garbage is place temporary storage before it move to another side
- To build green environment and reduce the production fossil fuel power plant the waste is used to generate the renewable energy .
- Some of waste are transfer to landfill to be dispose while the remaining material is send bck to industry for remanufacturing.

Motivation
After
the problem was defined a details study of related work done was carried out. During
the study of related work, a lot of scope was seen to improve the system in
garbage monitor system. There are a lot of project was conduct before to
monitor the overflowing of garbage. Hence it can be guideline in completing the
project. As a part of garbage management system, the system is developed to
monitor the garbage status in real time access. By using this system hygiene
and clean environment in cities can be provided. Furthermore, it will avoid spreading
different types of diseases. In many aspects the IOT garbage monitoring is very
useful for smart cities.

Background Project
Due
to high population in Malaysia gives a problem of managing garbage collection
is a major problem faced people in Malaysia. This will lead to unhygienic
condition. It can be seen around garbage being spilled out from the bins.
Hence, Garbage Monitoring using IoT is a project
that implement to make area of residential clean. This project will show the
level status of the garbage and it will monitor the garbage bin. For this
project it will use ultrasonic sensor, Wifi module, Node MCU microcontroller
and cloud
Node MCU is the main component that acts as
microcontroller. Wifi module also contain in microcontroller. User will monitor
the status of level garbage through a cloud. On the interior side of the lid,
distance sensor or other called ultrasonic sensor will be placed. Distance
between ultrasonic and trash will decrease when trash increase. The
microcontroller process the data and through the help of Wifi will send to the cloud.
In cloud it will showed a graphical image to worker.
Via
IoT waste disposal in bin can be manage more efficiently in addition it
provides dynamic routing garbage collection compared to conventional schedule . Moreover, it will give a
real-time indicator of the level of the trash. As a conclusion, this project is
an alternative way in managing the garbage collection developed based on Node
MCU

Research and finding
This week my focus is to do research about the solar power bank .Solar power bank will use as power supply to my project .To make Eco friendly project i decide to use solar .I have go through to lelong website to find the best price .Here i attached the advantage using the solar power bank . Advantage solar power bank is environmentally friendly charging through solar power bank saves energy ,which is the resource the whole word is working on saving.
How a solar power bank work ?
A solar power bank will store power and let user charger .A solar power bank works the same way ,just instead of electricity ,it uses the sun .It have solar panel (build in solar panel) to charge itself .

Finding and research
In my project to measure the level status of the garbage i will use the ultrasonic sensor that interfaced with the micro controller .HC-SR04 is a low cost sensor .It made up four pin triggers echo,VCC and ground.Sensor range provide from 2cm to 400cm .It contain transmitter receiver and control circuit.It has wider input voltage range allow to operate with micro controller on 3.3V . The sensor price in lelong is only rm 3.50 for one unit.I decide to buy this sensor later on .Moreover most of project smart management use this sensor for monitoring process .This sensor uses sonar to measure distance with high accuracy and stable reading .It consists of an ultrasonic transmitter ,receiver and control circuit The transmitter transmit short bursts which get reflected by target and are picked up by the receiver.The time difference between transmission and reception of ultrasonic signal is calculated .

Node MCU ESP8266
For the micro controller on my project i make a research with node MCU ESP 8266.It is an IOT platform which is open source. Node MCU uses programming LUA language or Arduino IDE.Moreover it combined feature WiFi access point based on eLua .In this project node MCU will act as an intermediate medium to monitor data.

In this week I'm continue my research about the open source IoT platform.Most of the journal i read they used Things Speak as their IoT platform is an IoT analytics platform service that allow user to aggregate ,visualize and analyze live data stream in the cloud.Things Speak provide instant visualization of data posted by your devices to thingSpeak. Below is the block diagram of system IoT.

In my project i will use IoT to monitor my system .The Internet of Things ( IoT) is a system of integrated computing device ,mechanical and digital machines , objects , animals, or people that are provided with unique identifier and the ability to transfer data over a network without requiring human to human or human to computer interaction .Basic understanding about IoT is a the equipment is install with sensor.The sensor is use to provide data.Sensor is the most vital element in IoT.

Research and finding
In week 2 research is continue with micro controller Espresso Lite V2.0 .It is an affordable wifi development board design by Singapore based IOT company .It uses the ESP 8266 chip-set as the main micro controller and support the the arduino environment.All the information about the Espresso Lite http://www.espressolite.com/let-s-get-started can be reach here

From my readers it recommend to use IDE to program and upload to sketches to Espresso Lite.I will install the software later.

Surveying Topics
For the first week i met up with Sir Hafyzan for choosing the topic .The topic that he gave me is a garbage monitor using Internet Of Things.I made a research about the project through the internet.From the internet i found ,this project are uses arduino as a micro controller .Sir Hafyzan asked me research about the Espresso Lite Version 2 .He is a great supervisor based on his wide knowledge about the arduino .From the journal i read ,the researchers used arduino mega, arduino uno , AT89C52 as a micro controller .Next is ,there are FYP Briefing in the first week at TTL .FYP implement requirement
